patients meeting 03 040914Last week an important committee hearing was held concerning parents, children, and families. Many people showed up to voice their fears and demand an end to the proposals. The upcoming bills SB14-177 and SB14-178 are not a long-term correction for the terror impoverished and minority families go though everyday resulting from drug war policies.

As a citizen and representative of our party, I spoke for concerned parents and patients from the cannabis community. I implored our public leaders to examine the rift between their intentions and the reality of how these laws affect working families. We can find a way to work more closely with stakeholders to draft legislation that would provide more protections for honest families.

There were small victories for those who waited a long day to testify in an overflowing packed room. The bill’s vote was delayed and an amendment was proposed to help safeguard legal cannabis-using citizens and families from further persecution.

patients meeting 06 040914Contact your state senator and representative and tell them that you are concerned about SB14-177 and SB14-178. We can do better to protect our families. Spread the word to your own families, as this concerns them, as well!
