Green Party Expresses Appreciation for Gore Leadership
For two decades, The Green Party of Colorado has been calling for a speedy program to reshape our energy systems. We must not continue to live as a cancer in the life-giving systems of which we are a part. Careful conservation is important. Moving to non-carbon producing, renewable energy is imperative.
We, therefore, deeply appreciate all the efforts that Vice President Al Gore has made to highlight the problem of global climate change. For too long both Democrats and Republicans have allowed this problem to be sidelined by those who prefer denial or who fear the changes necessary.
Far from being a “crazy,” or an alarmist Gore is doing us all a critical service by issuing the challenge to achieve a Carbon Free energy system by 2018. The alternative to this change is to make life a misery for our children and grandchildren. We all need to engage our personal creativity in working together to solve this problem. The GPOC urges citizens to elect leaders who accept Gore’s challenge.
