PROPOSAL NUMBER: 001-04

PROPOSAL NUMBER: 001-04

PROPOSAL SUBJECT: Date(s) of State Meeting and Nominating Convention/Assembly

PRESENTER: Allison Maynard, Co-chair GPCO and Lucy Almasy, Council Facilitator
Confirming GP members: Eric Fried, Poudre Valley Greens

TIMELINE EFFECTIVE:
Through chosen date of convention.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: The Colorado Revised Statutes require that a political party hold its Nominating Convention/Assembly at least 65 days prior to the state primary date, which is the second Tuesday of August. Additionally, the national party needs to know the date of the meeting, as it figures into some deadlines that the USGP has.

By setting the date now, the GPCO chapters will be able to begin making plans for their representatives and delegates who will attend, and the host chapter can better plan, also.

Eric’s confirming email:
“The date is up to the state council/party, not us. We will find a place on the date desired. There was some discussion of whether to make the meeting 1 day or two, which I don’t think was resolved. Depends on the agenda, to be decided later. My thought was to find a place in Fort Collins for April 24 and 25, and maybe not use the 25th if not needed…it is on the agenda for our meeting this Thursday, so hopefully we will have a volunteer then to start looking. We have some ideas, but were waiting for ‘04 to get started…”
IMPLEMENTATION - RESOURCES:
None

FULL PROPOSAL:

That the Green Party of Colorado designate Saturday, April 24, 2004 possibly extending into Sunday, April 25 as the date(s) of the annual State Meeting and the Nominating Convention/Assembly. Eric Fried of the Poudre Valley Greens has confirmed that Fort Collins is the location, as was volunteered at the 2003 Meeting, and that this date(s) will acceptable to that chapter.
