PROPOSAL NUMBER: 007-05
PROPOSAL NUMBER: 007-05
1. Date proposed 4/19/05. Sponsors: Summit Greens
2. TITLE:
Proposal to hold the 2005 State GPOC Meeting in Summit County.
3. FULL PROPOSAL:
The Summit Greens are offering their services as hosts of the 2005 Green Party of Colorado State Meeting. The Meeting would take place in Breckenridge, Colorado on July 8, 9, and 10.
FORMAT: Friday night welcome reception and party with speakers; Saturday business meeting; and Sunday optional group hike.
4. BACKGROUND:
At this point a May date does not work for our people. We also had trouble with June dates. So we’ve picked a July date that appears to be good. It will be beautiful weather then too, hopefully. We’ve lined up the venue already and there is no cost to GPOC. we also have a newly elected town councilman here who’s in the first year of his term. Summit Greens have hosted one state meeting previously back in April 2001 and this meeting would be in the same location for those of you who attended that meeting.
5. Justification/Goals:
=======================
Last year the State Meeting was held in Fort Collins, so this year a local on the Western Slope should host the Meeting.
6. Pros and Cons:
=================
Pro:
- Breckenridge is close to the I-70 corridor, so travel by automobile is easy.
- We need a State Meeting this year to bring in new local parties, and finalize some of our new bylaw and procedure changes.
Con:
- No known drawbacks.
7. Alternatives to the proposal:
================================
- Skip the State Meeting this year.
